CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy helps to assess the state of and bring balance to the CranioSacral System of the body.  The system incorporates the skull, spine and sacrum (tailbone).

A CranioSacral Therapist is attuned to the rhythm and movements of the CranioSacral System.  The dural tube encases the skull and spine and attaches at key places in the skull and at the sacrum.  As the cerebral spinal fluid produced in the brain flows back and forth between the head and tailbone, movement of the bones occur. The therapist is able to sense restrictions and imbalances in the movement of the bones in the head, vertebrae and bones of the body.  Once found corrections can then be made to bring balance and health to the body.

When a trauma or imbalance occurs to the body it can affect other parts of the body as well.  So if, for example, an injury occurs in the knee, the effects can be felt in the spine, back, and head at a muscular and skeletal level.  Often pain and discomfort are felt in places that are not necessarily the source of the injury.  By concentrating on this key restriction instead of on the areas of pain manifestation, the session is more likely to benefit the body.

When the CranioSacral System is flowing and in balance, the central nervous system functions more efficiently and the body is in general healthier.   The CranioSacral System influences most of the other systems in the body, allowing CranioSacral Therapy to be effective in treating many health problems.

When in a CranioSacral session a person can experience a great sense of relaxation and will often experience a dream state or trance.  In this state the mind is able to clear itself and is often presented with solutions or revelations it was seeking.

What to expect in a session

Expect to find a relaxing and quiet setting.  The client is fully clothed while laying on a padded treatment table.  The therapist uses very light touch to work on the body.  Even though focused on the head, spine and tailbone, a session is not necessarily limited to those areas.  During a session the client often feels a sense of relaxation and peace which often lasts long after the session is completed.

Sessions last 60 to 75 minutes and cost $90

Children (8 & under) 30 min session: $55
