Journey
Do not fear going forward slowly;
Fear only standing still.

When you try to avoid pain,

Take time to be friendly -
it is the road to happiness
Take time to dream -
it is hitching your wagon to a star
Take time to love and be loved -
it is the privilege of the gods
Take time to look around -
it is too short a day to be selfish
Take time to laugh -
it is the music of the soul

And in the end its not the years in your life that count.
It's the life in your years.

it must first be taken into a dark place.

What lies behind us
and what lies before us
are small matters
compared to what
lies within us

Remember
then that there is only one important time, and
that time is now. The most important one is always the
one you are with. And the most important thing is to do
good for the one who is standing at your side. For
these, my dear boy, are the answers to what is most
important in this world. This is why we are here.

Do not imagine that he who seeks to comfort you now lives
untroubled among the simple and quiet words that
sometimes do you good. His life has much more
difficulties and sadness and remains far behind yours.
Were it otherwise he would never have been able to find
these words.
- Rainer Maria Rilke |

The Guest House
This being human is a guest-house
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
Some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrow,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture.
Still, treat each guest honorably.
he may be clearing you
out for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
